L’histoire de Falling In Reverse, ou plutôt de Ronnie Radke, n’est plus à présenter. Le retour du chanteur sur la scène a provoqué un véritable raz de marée à sa sortie de prison il y a 5 ans. L’occasion pour lui et sa bande de régler ses comptes avec son ancien groupe, lançant le très bon The Drug In Me Is You teinté emocore de 2006 (la presque suite de Dying Is Your Latest Fashion).
En 2013, le groupe dévoile Fashionably Late, un album autant surprenant qu’abhorré. Les paroles ne sont plus des attaques sur Escape The Fate mais perdent en qualité. Les solos de guitare sont tout simplement absents et le dupstep apparait, mais la surprise la plus grande reste la nouvelle technique vocale de Ronnie… le rap, qu’on ne pouvait voir venir. L’album reçoit des bonnes critiques une fois sorti, après avoir déclenché un torrent de haine avec le premier single « Alone ».
En 2015, Just Like You sort, et une nouvelle fois le groupe ne fait pas ce que l’on attend eux. L’album ne m’a tout simplement pas marqué. Je dis cela après une bonne dizaine d’écoute de la galette, sinon je vous aurait fortement conseillé de perdre une heure à l’écouter.
Avec un début extrêmement bon, « Chemical Prisoner » et « God, If You Are Above » rappellent l’album référence qui a dévoilé Ronnie au plus grand nombre, mais la suite perd en qualité et en intérêt. Le titre éponyme est plutôt agréable mais sent tellement Good Charlotte qu’on se sent déçu.
« Wait & See » et « Die For You » sont deux titres qui font partie des morceaux qui valent le coup. La ballade « Brother », en hommage au frère de Ronnie décédé peu avant, est poignante et inattaquable de par l’émotion qui en ressort.
La fin de la série des « Guillotine », 4ème du nom, est réjouissante. Je ne suis pas un fan des morceaux qui continuent albums après albums, tant cette suite-là a perdu en qualité au bout de 9 ans. « My Apocalypse » a elle aussi droit à sa suite dans l’édition deluxe, mais reste bien éloignée de la première sans être pour autant mauvaise.
Just Like You est un album encore une fois surprenant, mais cette fois décevant. Où est passé Jacky Vincent ? Plutôt absent sur le deuxième album, cette fois on le cherche partout, par pitié arrêtez avec ces breakdowns générique et remettez-vous à jouer des solos hallucinants comme il sait les faire.

The story of Falling In Reverse, or maybe the one of Ronnie Radke, is not anymore to be presented. The singer’s return on the scene was greatly expected at his exit of prison 5 years ago. This was opportunity for him and his band to attack his former band, releasing the very good The Drug In Me Is You, containing a « 2006 emocore » (almost Dying Is Your Latest Fashion’s sequel).
In 2013, the band released Fashionably Late, an as surprising as hated. The lyrics are not about Escape The Fate anymore, guitar solos disappeared and dubstep music appeared. The greatest surprise of the album remained in the new vocal technique used by Ronnie… rapping. Fashionably Late received good amount of reviews when released, despite all the bad reactions towards the single Alone.
This year, Just Like You came out, and one more, the band does not play the they’re expected to do. To be honest, nothing about this album is memorable. After 10 listenings, I do not recommend you to give an hour to this album.
With an extremely good beginning, « Chemical Prisonner » and « God, If You Are Above » remind us of Escape The Fate’s debut, but the songs left to listen are not that good. The title-track, despite being catchy as fuck, is a Good Charlotte song: plagiarism ? Almost it. « Wait and See » and « Die For You » are probably the two other only good songs. « Brother », a tribute to Ronnie’s brother who passed last year, is a fully charged with emotion song.
The end of the « Guillotine » series, the 4th one this time, is a very good thing. I’m not the kind of person who likes to listen to series of song, especially that one who had just gotten worse in 9 years. « My Apocalypse » has also its sequel here, but does not match the first one, sadly this track is only on the Deluxe Edition.
Just Like You is a surprising record, but deceiving. Where the fuck is Jacky Vincent ? I thought he disappeared on Fashionably Late, I guess he just was not aware that his band was going to record a new album, which could explained why there’s no guitar solo on this but an amount of generic breakdowns.
